Per KDE bug 142308 which I just opened, there is a bug in recent versions of KDE preventing usage of x11vnc with its option to use DPMS to turn off the local console monitor to prevent session snooping. As described in that bug, I tracked the problem down to revision 581777 of kdebase/kdesktop/lockeng.cc. I backed out that revision on my local copy of KDE, which resolved the problem with x11vnc and as far as I can tell had no negative effects. I'm not sure what the KDE disposition of the bug will be, but I was wondering if the KDE devs might consider fixing it in portage for now... Thanks... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Oops, bugzilla seemed to have turned my KDE bug text into a link to local Gentoo bug 142308, which has nothing to do with this problem. To clarify, I am discussing bug 142308 in KDE bugzilla, http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142308
No, sorry, that's really something upstream should resolve. Please feel free to re-open this bug once you got some feedback on your upstream bug.
