Somewhat of a similar problem. Installed gentoo-sources-2.4.20-r1, as recommended in Portage, fired up glxgears, whole system locked up. Also fired up a Quake2 coop game where I hosted and played as well. This caused hard lock of computer as well. Reverting back to gentoo-sources-2.4.19-r10, steady as a rock. Would it be possible to remove 2.4.20 out of Portage stable, as when doing a search, I see a lot of bugs with this kernel. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Fire up glxgears or host a Quake2 coop game as well as play in the game. 2. Wait a few seconds to minutes. 3. Computer hardlocks, have to force reboot. Actual Results: Computer locks up, have to force reboot. Expected Results: If a kernel is released as stable in Portage, should be robust and work well. i.e. Not ~x86 Have since reverted to 2.4.19 gentoo-sources until 2.4.20 is upgraded or 2.4.21 is released.
Tried 1.0.4191 yet ?
Yes, with 1.0.4191 and 2-D apps such as gnome-terminal, the display is rendered very slowly so using 1.0-3123 at the moment.
Have you tried with 1.0.4191 to add to the "Device" section: --------------------------------------------------- Option "RenderAccel" "on" ---------------------------------------------------
well, without further information, nothing can be done. i have no issues with 1.0.4349 and gentoo-sources-2.4.20-r3 (or r2). please reopen if you have more info. Jay
