Hi there!..

hardware:
notebook acer 5102wlmi, turion tl-50 (64 x2), mem ddr2 1gb, radeon xpress 200m.
software:
gentoo 2006.1, all compiled except openoffice, gcc 4.1.1, gentoo-sources 2.6.19-gentoo-r5 #1 SMP, last portage at feb,18.

running emerge at terminal in kde environment.

it happens with kwifimanager too:

localhost ar # emerge --pretend kwifimanager

Indeed; you plain cannot mix a meta package providing the same stuff as the split ebuilds.

Excuse me, but you are saying that kdeutils have the package kwifimanager??
I don't think so...

excuse me again :) the meta package kdenetworks (not kdeutils) gave me no wifi manager..
