hi. we have started mirror.ing.unibo.it with: - gentoo full source mirror - rsync mirror at in Engineering @ unibo http://www.ing.unibo.it (this one is only in italian, sorry) http://www.eng.unibo.it/PortaleEn/University/University+Structures/Academic+Structures/schedule/Engineering.htm http://www.eng.unibo.it/PortaleEn/default.htm this is out 'node' to the world. http://www.noc.garr.it/mrtg/RT1.BO1.garr.net/RT1.BO1.garr.net.html the harware is a dual core dual xeon (dell pe1950, btw). but mirror.ing.unibi.it is a virtual server on Xen 3.0.4, with (by now, this is a virtual) 1 GB ram 100 GB storage for gentoo mirror. we decided to put this mirror up for some reasons: - we have bandwidth (a lot) - we have more than 50 server (real and virtuals) on gentoo. - we need an internal mirror, so just put it online and public! and last: - unipd mirror is actually 'not good', unina mirror have no rsync we have the following services: ftp (anonymous only) http (lighttpd) rsync crontab: 00,30 * * * * root []/rsync-gentoo-portage.sh 05,35 * * * * root []/rsync-gentoo-fullmirror.sh by now, portage is syncing to rsync://rsync.de.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage, source mirror to rsync://ftp.ussg.iu.edu/gentoo-distfiles please tell me when when i have to change it. Hi Daniele, Thanks for wanting to help out with a mirror. I just ran a check and it looks good : * Timestamp on mirror.ing.unibo.it is Sat, 24 Feb 2007 10:08:01 +0000 * Current time in UTC is Sat Feb 24 11:38:30 UTC 2007 I'll run a few more of these before adding you in. Also, please make sure the sources sync only once in 4 hours. Basically your full mirror should look something like 0 00,04,08,12,16,20 (once in four hours). Please look at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/source_mirrors.xml for details. Also, rsync doesn't seem to be working : $ rsync mirror.ing.unibo.it::gentoo-portage/ This is rsync[number].it.gentoo.org. @ERROR: chroot failed rsync error: error starting client-server protocol (code 5) at main.c(1386) [receiver=2.6.9] Can you please look into that? Thanks!
