Description Nico R. Wohlgemuth 2007-02-20 15:26:10 UTC
When I run X or Xorg -configure, it fails. I also googled, serveral other useres are having the same problem, not all of them are using Gentoo.
There is no fix or workaround for this.

I already filtered my additional CFLAGS to make sure it's not a CFLAGS related problem - same error. See the forum link for details. I also recompiled the xserver without the fglrx drivers - same error.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Xorg -configure
Actual Results:

Don't change "Severity", thanks. Use "xorgconfig" instead.
Comment 2 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-02-20 15:33:51 UTC
Plus recompile your system with all that junk in C[XX]FLAGS/LDFLAGS before reporting bugs. (Plus why on earth are you sticking -s there?)
Comment 3 Nico R. Wohlgemuth 2007-02-20 16:39:40 UTC
Okay, I removed the -s in LDFLAGS but xorgcfg creates me a very crappy config
Comment 4 Joshua Baergen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-02-21 00:56:19 UTC

Your C[XX]FLAGS and LDFLAGS are still insane. If someone can reproduce this problem on a system with sane flags, please let us know and we'll re-open the bug.
Comment 5 Nico R. Wohlgemuth 2007-02-21 16:41:41 UTC
First of all my C[XX]/LDFLAGS are not insane.

Please change the bug to SOLVED
It was the ati-drivers wich were crashing the X -configure function, see http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-541298.html

# Unmerge the ati drivers and remove fglrx from the VIDEO_CARDS line
# Run X -configure, which worked using the radeon driver
# Start X, make sure you can get in
# Emerge the ati-drivers again
# Run /opt/ati/bin/aticonfig -- initial as root

Fixed.
I now use the radeon drivers thus suspend2 is not working with the fglrx binary bomb.
