My proposal is to add a notification option to the individual package pages so that users can get mail/im when the particular package status changes. E.g. I would like information when Xfce 4.4. is stable so I would go to: http://packages.gentoo.org/ebuilds/?xfce4-4.4.0 and fill out my email in a form og my jabber login and automatically recieve mail when the status changes. (of course it should send me a confirmation mail first to avoid abuse). Reproducible: Always
With the current code base this is just too messy/difficult to do. It would be nice to get fresher code out (either the code I had been working on or something completely different) but right now I am not definitively certain about the future of packages.g.o.
