Ok, this is a tentative ebuild for kpowersave 0.7.2. On my system (3.5.6 kde) worked flawlessly.

Sorry but there is something I don't get.
On the page, it's said that kpowersave now relies on hal >= 0.5.8.1, which is not and will never be in portage according to http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151495

Ebuilds are not supposed to be bumped straight to stable.

I agree. The new kpowersave is depending on >=hal-0.5.8.1. I asked specially for it and the author of kpowersave answered me:

Btw. It should not be committed unstable release (kpowersave 0.7.2 is marked like unstable by its developer!) as stable into the portage tree!
