I have compiled Quixote 1.2 (not existing in portage O_o) on my amd64 box without any issues. Big serios web application also works fine on top of it. Quixote 2.4 also compiles without any ploblem and a few simple applications works with it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
