Comment 3 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-02-16 09:48:35 UTC
Try w/ 2.6.20 please.
Comment 4 Armin Mohring 2007-02-16 11:42:38 UTC
With kernel 2.6.20 problem still persits:

ATA: abnormal status 0x7F on port 0x1F7
ATA: abnormal status 0x7F on port 0x1F7

Hmmm...
Comment 6 Armin Mohring 2007-02-16 15:01:18 UTC
drives do work, if I use the "normal" PATA driver
Comment 7 bruce.veidt 2007-02-16 22:03:00 UTC
(In reply to comment #6)
> drives do work, if I use the "normal" PATA driver

I see a similar abnormal status message with 2.6.19.
I can mount and read data from the cd/dvd drive, but
I cannot burn.
Also hdparm -I /dev/sr0 (or sg0) does not return a
full description of the drive.
Revert to 2.6.18 and it works again.

(2.6.19 was built with ATA/ATAPI/MFM/RLL disabled,
serial ATA + Intel SATA enabled, SCSI CDROM enabled.)
Comment 8 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-02-24 17:59:03 UTC
Please report this upstream after reproducing with 2.6.21-rc1. The libata PATA drivers are still experimental.

Comment 13 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-06 12:17:59 UTC
Do you have any problems using these devices, or is it simply the error messages which concern you (but things are working fine)?
Comment 14 Armin Mohring 2007-04-06 19:44:15 UTC
I have this error during boot and these devices (CD-RW and DVD-RW) can´t be used.
Comment 15 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-06 22:27:07 UTC
OK. please file this bug upstream at http://bugzilla.kernel.org
