Dear docs team, I'm tired of 0day bugs, maintainers are tired of 0day bugs. It's annoying, wastes everyone's time and doesn't help. Games project has a nice section [1] on this issue in their project docs. Please, copy it over to a more generic place, maybe [2] or anywhere else where you consider it to have most chance to hit a proper audience. [1] http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/desktop/games/index.xml#doc_chap5_sect5 [2] http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/devrel/handbook/handbook.xml?part=2&chap=3 @bugzilla - please, consider noting the same on bug submission pages (both guided and expert ones) or maybe directly at bugzilla homepage. Thanks everyone.

If it is indeed a serious request, can you provide a specific bug or bugs that led to this request? Seems like something happened to make you snap. Note that if you want this info placed at [2], you should reassign to devrel@, since documents in /proj/ are managed by those specific projects. That being said, I think I can find a place for it in our bugzilla howto; a <section> at the end of chapter 6 (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/bugzilla-howto.xml#doc_chap6) on 0-day bump requests would be most appropriate there. GDP: anyone disagree with the request and/or location?

Oh, *absolutely* not... > If it is indeed a serious request, can you provide a specific bug or bugs that > led to this request? Seems like something happened to make you snap. It's a long-term issue, Bug 166040 was the last example, see http://tinyurl.com/2kgo64 for a couple of other examples. I've even raised this issue on -dev mailing list before, requesting some sort of policy to get these automatically closed as INVALID, only to get yelled at by people. So, this is an attempt to reduce the useless annoying noise by properly documenting the issue.
(In reply to comment #1) > Note that if you want this info placed at [2], you should reassign to devrel@, The more places this hits, the higher chance someone will actually notice. CCing devrel as well, the end of 3.b sections seems like a good place to note this as well. > I think I can find a place for it in our bugzilla howto; a <section> at > the end of chapter 6 > (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/bugzilla-howto.xml#doc_chap6) on 0-day bump > requests would be most appropriate there. A good one, yeah.
(In reply to comment #1) > GDP: anyone disagree with the request and/or location? Both are fine with me. Adding a bit fat warning to the Bugzilla itself will stop most of those requests, at least I hope so.
Fixed in CVS on the docs-team end. Added to the bugzilla guide. If any other project wants to add this info to their docs, please reopen and reassign to yourself.
Can't re-assign without reopening, sorry for noise...
