You could try to run a revdep-rebuild and see if somethings broken / missing on your system
Comment 2 Fabio Bonfante 2007-02-23 09:27:23 UTC
i do a revdep-rebuild after ever emerge -auvD world.
I've this java-related packages installed

[D] dev-java/sun-jdk (1.4.2.13(1.4)@08/01/2007 1.5.0.10(1.5)@31/01/2007 -> 1.5.0.10(1.5)): Sun's J2SE Development Kit, version 1.6.0
[I] dev-java/sun-jre-bin (1.5.0.10(1.5)@31/01/2007): Sun's J2SE Development Kit, version 1.6.0

and my gcc has java use flag enabled
Comment 3 Jeremy K. Truax 2007-04-03 00:00:23 UTC
I'm having the exact same error on my x86 installation. I tried running revdep-rebuild but it didn't find anything.

This has nothing to do with the original bug report. That one is a STLport issue, discussed in bug #172860
Comment 6 Daniel Dombrowski 2007-04-06 22:56:00 UTC
It's not exactly the same bug, but has to do something with jawt, too. When I run revdep-rebuild, it finds the following inconsistency:

broken /usr/lib/openoffice/program/libofficebean.so (requires libjawt.so)

So it remerges openoffice again. That works fine. But if I run revdep-rebuild again, it finds the same inconsistency again. Openoffice seems to work properly, but revdep-rebuild complains about missing libjawt.so even after remerging openoffice.

That's not related at all (an already fixed), just update to a newer java-config, see bug #152039
Comment 8 Petteri Räty (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-06-23 19:40:24 UTC
This is most likely related to not having a generation 1 JDK installed. This means that you won't have java entries in /etc/ld.so.conf. Please run java-check-environment, it should complain about missing a generation 1 VM. This should work as a work around until we properly fix this.
Comment 9 Fabio Bonfante 2007-06-26 22:34:36 UTC
I'll try asap, tnx!

I don't think it matters here. Look at the link flags there:

-L/opt/sun-jdk-1.4.2.13/lib64 -L/opt/sun-jdk-1.4.2.13/jre/lib/amd64
-L/opt/sun-jdk-1.4.2.13/jre/lib/amd64/server
-L/opt/sun-jdk-1.4.2.13/jre/lib/amd64/native_threads

> java-check-environment, it should complain about missing a generation 1 VM.
> This should work as a work around until we properly fix this.

Maybe it will work around, but the problem IMHO isn't bug 173915 but the fact that it seems to need the paths in ld.so.conf even if the paths are explicitly given via -L
Comment 11 Vlastimil Babka (Caster) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-06-26 22:53:29 UTC
Also, sun-jdk-1.4.2.13 is a gen-1 jdk so I'd expect java-check-environment to be good. Maybe its installation is broken tho, and libjawt.so is missing or corrupted?

It might be because of the order of arguments. Just a guess until actually looking into how it works.
Comment 13 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-09-20 07:44:02 UTC
Is this still an issue with 2.3.0?
Comment 14 Fabio Bonfante 2007-09-21 00:05:49 UTC
actually i need make some free space before try to recompile openoffice... if someone else would try in the meantime... ;-)

I'm trying to build 2.3 on AMD64 with gcc 4.2 using the ibm jdk 1.4.2 (most recent), and get the same error about not finding ljawt.
Comment 16 faceman 2007-09-28 18:01:21 UTC
Further info is that I'm using IBM JDK 1.4.2.9 (as Blackdown JDK 1.4.2.03 wasn't working either) and slocate libjawt gives:

/opt/ibm-jdk-bin-1.4.2.9/jre/bin/libjawt.so

So it's there.

I do have another box that built oo.o 2.1 with no trouble, and it's basically the same setup (mostly same use flags and everything), but I haven't tried 2.3 on it yet.
Comment 17 faceman 2007-09-29 01:57:58 UTC
Finally got it to build. I just did emerge -u openoffice today and rebuilt and it worked fine.

Several packages were updated, not sure exactly why it worked now but not before.

Keeping your system up to date is always a good idea ;)
