I'm aware of two pastebin scripts; the one in the URL which requires net-misc/curl and app-text/nopaste which requires dev-lang/ruby.

Getting a script like that on as many of the release medias as possible would be a great help in #gentoo whenever someone needs help before X is up and running.

a pastebin script that requires only bash, sed and wget.

When I mentioned this in #gentoo-devrel it was suggested that it can be done with `wget --post-data`. (Hi kloeri and agaffney :) This is a simple proof of concept for that (may need some additional testing).

The purpose of this is to get it on the minimal medias and perhaps even in stage3 tarballs so that there is no excuse for not being able to pastebin things when requesting help during initial install...

This is a slightly improved version. It moves the escaping code into a function called escape() and escapes ' ' properly.

There would need to be an ebuild for this, which is marked stable on every architecture, before this can be added to the release media. It will definitely *never* be added into a stage tarball, as the stages are only required packages.

It's in the tree now (app-text/wgetpaste). Bug #166570 has been filed to have ~arch keywords added. Not sure when how fast this can/or needs to be marked stable to make it into 2007.0...

It won't make it for 2007.0, which is already underway.

Was there a point in that comment? Did it add to the information required to resolve this issue?

Just wanted to be sure that this hadn't been forgotten. Sorry.

Actually that's not quite true. I never got a definite 'yes' or 'no' for this. I just got a 'not in 2007.0'. I suppose I should derive a 'yes' from the fact that it hasn't been WONTFIX'ed but I'd really just like to know if it will be added in 2007.1. app-text/wgetpaste is stable on almost all arches now. Again sorry for the noise.

OK, I've added this to the specs in SVN for 2008.0...

This should be fixed in 2008.0
