Description Vlad Berditchevskiy 2003-03-01 20:41:52 UTC
The following message is printed and Audacity exits with error code 1.

Gdk-ERROR **: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
  serial 6466 error_code 2 request_code 45 minor_code 0

I used Audacity some time ago and did not encounter this problem, but suddenly
Audacity ceased to work (it's possible that some Gnome/GTK libs have been
upgraded since then). I tried to remerge both wxGTK and Audacity, tried 2 wxGTK
versions (2.2.9 and 2.4), but nothing helped.

Comment 3 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2003-03-01 22:02:14 UTC
sorry, i'm a tool ...

what version of audacity ?
Comment 4 Vlad Berditchevskiy 2003-03-01 22:21:49 UTC
audacity-1.1.1-r1
I also have the latest stable versions of all GTK/Gnome packages. wxGTK was compiled with "-gtk2".
Comment 5 John Wu 2003-03-11 10:25:35 UTC
I looked at some previous segfault problems in bugzilla. After I saw the one on the missing .Audacity file (bug 15518), I removed the one that was there from emerge, and replaced it the way that fixed it in the other bug report. (cp /usr/portage/media-sound/audacity/files/basecfg-1.1.1 ~/.Audacity) and I also removed the .audacity_temp/ directory (since it was no longer set as the temp directory in the config). After that I was able to run audacity with no problems.
Comment 6 Vlad Berditchevskiy 2003-03-11 10:44:21 UTC
John's advice did not work for me. Now I get a dialog box, asking for the Language to use, but after pressing the OK button, I still get the same error.

Hi, can you let me know if this bug is still occuring?

thanks
Comment 9 Vlad Berditchevskiy 2003-05-13 20:14:59 UTC
I just run audacity - and indeed, it did not occur now! BTW, I didn't reinstall audacity since last time, but maybe upgraded some of the libs it depends on.

good good :) I'll close the ticket, obviously if it happens again please re-open.

thanks
