Markus, can you test the masked xfree-4.3.0-r2 ebuild please?
just did it, emerge will fail with this error: ../../../config/makedepend/makedepend: error: cannot open "Makefile.bak" really wierd, this amd k6-2 box is the only box of mine that make problems with basically anything. already tried different CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS but nothing worked yet. i guess something is b0rked with her...
hm, do you have enough space?
wtf? you'r right. actually my / run out of disk space this really shouldn't happen, since i mounted some space of my fileserver to /var, but this damn nfs mount didn't work ;) thanks for the tip. going to give it a new try in some mins
uh, forgot to say: worked

Hmm, I 'fixed' the xfree compile. /usr/bin/g++, gcc, cpp were coming up with strange could not locate/execute errors. I deleted those files and symlinked the /usr/i686../gcc-bin files and things worked again.
Did you set a umask that rendered them unexecutable? I've seen that happen.
