Downloaded, checked md5sum, burned CD and verified Gentoo 1.4-rc3 x86 basic live CD. Booted with "Gentoo cdcache". Set up networking, partitioned, did chroot without apparent problems. Several bootstrap attempts ended in different segfaults at different times and on different operations. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.boot x86 basic live CD with "gentoo cdcache" on NForce2 with fast disk. 2.follow installation guide steps to "bootstrap.sh", if possible. 3. Actual Results: One segfault during sync, other attempts ended at different stages of bootstrap. Only obvious similarity was disk activity. Expected Results: Full stage 1 bootstrap, leading to emerge world. Suceeded in bootstrap after starting with "gentoo cdcache ide=nodma". No problem with configured and compiled kernel from 2.4.21-pre4-ac7 source, which contains several more bug fixes specifically for the new NForce IDE driver.
the nforce drivers are real up and down right now. -rc3 works good for some not for others, same with stuff in -ac7. but we are very much on top of nforce support in Gentoo all together.
