Description Anton Kuzmin 2007-02-10 09:24:40 UTC
xorg-x11-7.2
nvidia-drivers-1.0.9746

The problem occured after upgrading xorg-x11 and nvidia-drivers.

When I switch to virtual console (ctrl+alt+F*) I see red horizontal lines with no text. Sometimes it's just random image with white dots and small blocks on black screen. I can type things there and execute commands but blindly.

Note that on my laptop is not impossible to use non-proprietary nv driver because of the similar problem in X(not in VC).

Reproducible: Always

Downgraded to nvidia-drivers-1.0.9631 No bug now.
Comment 5 Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-07-16 17:58:50 UTC
This sounds like it's a bug in the binary driver. There are newer versions available in the tree, you can test those but ultimately you're going to have to talk to nVidia about this issue.

I tried BETA drivers (100.x.x) about a week or two ago. They worked fine.
