Update the docs to add bind mounting /sys from live environment to /mnt/gentoo/sys so that the install of elilo will complete Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. read the docs. 2. 3. Actual Results: if /sys is not mounted elilo fails to install Expected Results: elilo installing correctly
Created attachment 109642 [details, diff] Suggested patch This is how we'd do it provided it needs to be done. Can anyone confirm? Mike?
Xavier -- looks great, please commit :)
erm, why not mount /sys for everyone ... it can only help, not hurt
(In reply to comment #3) > erm, why not mount /sys for everyone ... it can only help, not hurt > For simplicity's sake. Leaving it out certainly doesn't hurt the other arch handbooks; they don't use elilo. (if someday elilo is to be used on intel Macs, and we have an official install procedure/support for those, then maybe we'll add it to the amd64 guide) Nice patch, Xavier; I'll take care of this and the corresponding umount in hb-ia64-bootloader.xml.
Fixed in CVS. Thanks to Xavier for the patch and for Tim's feedback, and to the original reporter.
it's a simple tradeoff ... you duplicate chunks of the documentation to insert like two lines when those two lines wouldnt add any real overhead to x86/amd64 users elilo can be used on x86/amd64 machines other than intel/mac ones
