Description Petteri Räty (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-02-08 16:58:45 UTC
After for example closing or killing amarok or kaffeine I get the drkonqi dialog about kded crashing. Unfortunately it is not able to give me a backtrace (threading issues?). I am compiling kdelibs with debug info atm so maybe that helps. The only useful info I get is from console:

betelgeuse@pena /var/tmp/portage/media-video/kaffeine-0.8.3/work/kaffeine-0.8.3 $ process 3563: arguments to dbus_message_new_method_call() were incorrect, assertion "_dbus_check_is_valid_path (path)" failed in file dbus-message.c line 1074.
This is normally a bug in some application using the D-Bus library.
  D-Bus not built with -rdynamic so unable to print a backtrace
Last DCOP call before KDED crash was from application 'DCOPServer'
to object 'kded', function 'quit()'.
KCrash: Application 'kded' crashing...
Warning: connect() failed: : No such file or directory
KCrash cannot reach kdeinit, launching directly.
kbuildsycoca running...

backtrace

It seems that this is caused by kdebase-kioslaves not working properly with nfs mounts under Xfce-4.4. Now we should just decide if this should be reported to xfce or kde bugzilla.
Comment 2 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-02-26 18:52:35 UTC
Seems halbackend.cpp has bad parameters in the D-Bus call, and halbackend.cpp is not ours but KDEs.

(Rumor has it, KDE has tried to rewrite some of their HAL mounting stuff in 3.5.6)
Comment 3 Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-05 16:02:54 UTC
Petteri: Please try to re-run this with D-Bus 1.0.2-r2 to get a nice full and pretty backtrace info.

Thanks Petteri. There are unfortunately lots of issues with the mediamanager. :( Tracking the upstream bug.
