I started Ktorrent about midnight, it takes 3-4% memory (i have 1GB + 2GB swap :) ), when i woke up, memory usage was about 53%, and after killall ktorrent it grows to 93% and almost hangs my system. Previous versions works correct, but 2.1_rc1 takes too much memory each time when it's works a little longer. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run Ktorrent on default config 2. Keep it working for a few hours :) Actual Results: Memory leaking :] Expected Results: Memory usage about 3-4% Gentoo with _very_ safe cflags, no ldflags, arch i686, gcc 4.1.1-r3, kde-3.5.6, gentoo-sources-2.6.17-r5, xorg-server-1.2.0 Sempron2800+@2400, 1024DDR, GF 66GT, 2xSATAn Hdd's :)
I'll have a good look at this one this weekend.
I have also experienced this bug. When killing the application, it begins to chew memory at an extremely fast pace. Exhausting main memory and swap in less than a minute. It does not happen every time for me so it is hard to get any debugging info.
Is the leak reproducible under net-p2p/ktorrent-2.1?
Yes, morning I launched Ktorrent-2.1, as always I took 3% of ram. About midday grews to 11% and CPU usage was 99%. Fortunely killall ktorrent didn't hang comp :)
Reopening on confirmation.
Please, check that this bug does not correspond to: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141483 Otherwise, please, fill a bug with all the information gathered and a detailed description of how it happens at http://bugs.kde.org/ Once done, please provide the bug URL. All reported memory leaks were presumably fixed already. Thank you.
One more thing, I tested some versions, 2.0.2 is ok, but in 2.0.3 also grows mem. usage.
Upstream will handle that.
I've changed kernel to 2.6.20-morph6 and done huge sys-upgrade, after this Ktorrent takes 5-9% (it changes up and down but not more than 9%) I'll test it for a few days, but after upgrade everything works fine since 2 days :)
