as per summary, g-wrap-1.9.7-r2 forces a dependency on guile-1.6* which, according to the changelog, was enforced until 1.9.6-r1 for gnucash compatibility, but removed afterwards. 

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. try to emerge g-wrap with guile-1.8 installed - tries to downgrade
