Description Eric 2003-02-28 12:19:49 UTC
When booting from the Gentoo Live rc2 1.4 Athlon GRP cd, after selecting my
keyboard map I get the following code:

----Loading default (US) keymap
----Monting the CD
----CD medium found on /newroot/dev/cdroms/cdrom0
----Mounting compressed loopback filesystem
Using /modules/cloop.o
----Copying and symlinking files from CD to populate /
cp: etc: Input/output error
cp: root: Input/output error
----Switching to tempfs root filesystem
exec: chroot: Input/output error
Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init!

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.boot from Gentoo Live rc2 1.4 GRP Athlon cd
2.select a keyboard map and hit enter
3.watch as it implodes

Actual Results:

After this booting ceased.

Expected Results:
Booted into a command prompt so I could install Gentoo.

try not overclocked?
Comment 3 Eric 2003-02-28 17:31:23 UTC
Bumping down the clock speed and core voltage of my processor back to 750Mhz did not change the results of the boot process. Any other suggestions that may help?

considering it has a lot of 'input/output errors' why not try burning another cd ?
or try the cd in another computer to make sure it is good

I agree with Spanky, check file size of your iso, check another computer, etc
I get this same error when i build a bad cloop file for livecd.

I tried using the athlon cd on my laptop instead of my desktop, and I still recieved the same error messages. I don't think it's the CD though, because I've downloaded it at least two or three times. Could it be anything else?
Comment 7 Eric 2003-03-04 13:58:39 UTC
As requested, I downloaded the Athlon Live cd from a different mirror and burned the ISO image. It booted correctly this time. It was a bad cd image. Thank you, everyone! :o)
