Description Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-02-06 21:55:56 UTC
This one is pretty simple. Since Apple started pushing out Core 2 machines, I'd like to see some version of mac-fdisk stable for both x86 and, hopefully, amd64, too. I've compiled mac-fdisk-0.1-r6 on both, and it runs perfectly fine, though I don't have one of these Macs to truly test it.

If you guys think it's cool, add x86/amd64.

Parted can handle mac partitions too. So x86 and amd64 already have a stable partitioning tool for this. But afaik the new x86 based macs use EFI partition tables, so mac-fdisk would be useless there anyway. Feel free to correct me if I happen to be wrongly informed.

Uhm, ok. It's not EFI (that's the booting stuff), but gpt and parted can deal with that too. So you want parted :)
Sorry for the bugspam.

Sure, but there's also no reason to not stable the latest and clean up the tree a bit. :) I've marked this ppc stable. I also don't know why there's a -* the KEYWORDS, I've removed that as well in -r6.

Chris, I guess we'll call for ppc64, x86 stable and amd64 testing?

Comment 4 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-02-12 16:04:21 UTC
Joe, that's fine by me. I can test it on amd64/x86 pretty easily.
Comment 5 Joe Jezak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-02-13 03:22:06 UTC
Okay then. We're looking for unstable keywords for amd64 and stable on x86 and
ppc64.

Thanks!

ppc64 stable

stable on x86

I've added ~amd64, but I'd like to leave this open for the time being. I am wanting to stabilize this in the release snapshot, with the idea that it'll be stabilized in the tree prior to the release. As I've said, I can test this myself.

Fix build errors on amd64

I got a report of mac-fdisk not building on AMD64. The attached patch should fix that can someone with an amd64 machine test it please?
Comment 10 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-12 15:10:45 UTC
Well, this is strange. I forgot to comment on here, but I am not seeing any problems compiling on amd64, at all. Got a bug number?
Comment 11 Joe Jezak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-12 15:26:53 UTC
I added the patch to CVS already. :) And no bug number, the error was reported to me on IRC. It was reproducible though.
Comment 12 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-12 17:08:25 UTC
That would explain why I had no problems, though I wasn't able to reproduce it even before, as I added ~amd64 to mac-fdisk in the first place. No worries, it works now and that's the important thing, right?
