After emerging hkscs-ming, none of the files in /etc/fonts/conf.d/*.conf are updated, so the extra characters aren't used with font families (eg. when browsing the web). There is a note that says: * The font name installed is 'Ming(for ISO10646)'. To add make it * the default Chinese font, you should add entries to your * /etc/fonts/local.conf similar to: * * <alias> * <family>Luxi Sans</family> * <family>Bitstream Vera Sans</family> * <family>Ming(for ISO10646)</family> * <default><family>sans-serif</family></default> * </alias> 1. This is outdated. To get it working I had to modify /etc/fonts/conf.d/65-nonlatin.conf 2. Other fonts seem to do this automatically. I tried finding in the ebuild where this gets done for other fonts, but couldn't figure it out, so this bug report is just "it doesn't work" Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge hkscs-ming 2. browse to a web page containing chinese characters 3. view squares for glyphs contained in hkscs-ming :( Actual Results: Squares are shown. Expected Results: Chinese characters are shown. It Works For Me, now that I've changed my own 65-nonlatin.conf, but I'm sure others would appreciate having it work out of the box.
