Description Bernardo S. A. Silva 2003-02-27 13:38:14 UTC
Hi,

It is an famous problem. Java Swing JEdit doesn't work with some deadkeys like ".
The solution need an Java VM update. But there is an alternate solution.
The us_intl of XFree86 can be modified to have an variant called nodeadkeys.
So, when you use any Java application (applets, jEdit, SunONE Studio, etc) you
can use an command like:
$ setxkbmap -variant nodeadkeys
And when you like to use the deadkeys again you can use:
$ setxkbmap -variant basic
So, I will copy my modified us_intl to you.

   Thanx... Bernardo S. A. Silva

Do you know exactly which VM's have this problem, and what versions was it fixed in?

Im marking this as fixed until we get some more information as to what VMs cause this issue, and the feasibility of this choice as it would require the modification of a lot of existing packages.
