Description cburroughs 2007-01-31 16:47:40 UTC
Luis Medinas just added 2.0.0 (thanks!) but could not test, it compiles fine but there are a few problems, most prominently there is no ability to access the preferences when right clicking on the applet.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Add music-applet to a Gnome panel
2. Right click on it

Actual Results:
No option to change preferences, the standard move, remove, lock options are there.

Expected Results:
There should be able to access something that looks like this: http://www.kuliniewicz.org/music-applet/screenshots/2.0.0/preferences.png

Other initial notes:
- There was no icon for music-applet in the "Add to panel" selector.
- Clicking on the applet did not launch a music player (this was the behavior in previous versions)
- It did not appear to consistently change from a single icon into "player mode" <http://www.kuliniewicz.org/music-applet/screenshots/2.0.0/applet.png> but I have separate problems with Rythmbox that I will try to fix so I can test this further.

this is why i masked the package ;). You'll need to wait until i find how to fix this.
Comment 2 Luca Marturana 2007-02-05 19:04:17 UTC
I'm posting here because maybe that the problems are similar, the question: on my system the applet didn't run printing this:

[ ~ ] $ /usr/libexec/music-applet

I fixed these lines and now works all good, I will attach my ebuild (with same improvements) and the patch for applet.py file.

music-applet-2.0.0.ebuild

Using dev-python/numeric-24.2, the patch is not needed.
Comment 6 Luis Medinas (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-02-07 03:25:54 UTC
thanks Luca
it's fixed in cvs.
Comment 7 cburroughs 2007-02-09 00:17:12 UTC
Although music-applet now installs and the preferences can be accessed, to actually control any music players dev-python/dbus-python 0.80 or later is required. (XMMS requires something else as well.)

On a completely unrelated note that doesn't deserve its own bug, the "close" button on the About page is also nonfunctional.

Right, in fact on the ebuild that I posted it's specified ">=dev-python/dbus-python-0.80" but on the portage one there is dbus-glib instead.
Comment 9 Ryan May 2007-02-13 01:31:54 UTC
Even when I install dbus-python-0.80.1, I still don't get any plugins to select from.

Do you have no plugins to select from. That is. no options here:
http://www.kuliniewicz.org/music-applet/screenshots/2.0.0/plugins.png

Or do the plugins have an angry red mark on them?
Comment 11 Ryan May 2007-02-13 02:13:09 UTC
Absolutely empty plugin box, nothing to choose from.
Comment 12 Ryan May 2007-02-14 14:59:20 UTC
Ok, my problem is fixed when I bump up to 2.1.0. It mentions a lack of plugins on amd64 being fixed, so I'm guessing that was my problem. I'll post a new bug.
