emerge of esearch fails

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. run "emerge esearch"


Actual Results:  
!!! ERROR: app-portage/esearch-0.7.1 failed.

Expected Results:  
installed esearch

!!! Relying on the shell to locate gcc, this may break

Stop using normal Gentoo on MacOS.

I initially used a dmg packaged installer from the url above. Then I followed the instructions on the url you mentioned and now I end up with the following error messages:
