For all current stable arches, timidity++ does not require you to manually merge a sound fonts package anymore (they are in PDEPEND). Also, there's a new timidity++-freepats package too. In addition to this, since version 2.13.2-r3, the timidity-update command is replaced by eselect timidity (that is also ran automatically so the user needs not to run it manually to get a working TiMidity++ setup). Thanks.
Next time, just file one bug per document. It's completely unnecessary to spam us this way.

I will however mention it for future usage.
Fixed in CVS, thanks for reporting.
Josh, if you don't mind I'd like to leave this bug open till the guide only references eselect timidity. I know that it's not yet stable on all arches, and that's why I'd like to have it still open. If docs team don't want to have it open in their buglist, please send it back to alsa-bugs@g.o and I'll re-assing it back to you when the bug blocking this is solved.
Changed to use only eselect as timidity is stable. Fixed in CVS.
