re emerge beagle and try remove the beagle build tmp dir /var/tmp/portage/beagle-0.2.14. This is something messed up in your system.
I did what Luis Medinas suggested, but I keep obtaining the _exact_ same error. BTW, there is nothing in /var/tmp/portage/.
(In reply to comment #2) > I did what Luis Medinas suggested, but I keep obtaining the _exact_ same error. > BTW, there is nothing in /var/tmp/portage/. > Have you tried to create a new user account for trying to launch beagle-search from it? Good luck
Same error over here, I ran this to get some debug: $ MONO_LOG_LEVEL="debug" MONO_LOG_MASK="dll" beagle-search And I get this: Mono-INFO: DllImport loading location: 'libgnomeui-2.so.0'. Mono-INFO: DllImport error loading library: 'libdbus-1.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory'. So then I ran this: $ ldconfig -p | grep dbus And I see: libdbus-1.so.3 (libc6) => /usr/lib/libdbus-1.so.3 libdbus-1.so (libc6) => /usr/lib/libdbus-1.so So no libdbus-1.so.2. I tried re-emerging both libgnomeui and dbus, but no joy. I have no idea why libgnomeui is looking for the wrong version of libdbus, so anyway: $ su - # cd /usr/lib && ln -s libdbus-1.so.3.2.0 libdbus-1.so.2 # exit And it works. Any better solutions for how to actually fix this would be good, but this workaround works for now - YMMV.
what you've done isn't correct. Beagle doesn't use dbus neither mono or gtk# bindings. You must run revdep-rebuild to fix your dbus issues. This is not a beagle bug the problem is on your system that you need to fix. Closing Thanks
