Description Michal Kawalec 2007-01-29 22:14:38 UTC
I was trying to install gentoo linux from LiveCD. That's the listing of error message:
There was an Exception received during the install that is outside │
│ of the normal install errors. This is a bad thing. The error │
│ was:EmergePackageError :FATAL: emerge: Could not emerge │
    │ sys-apps/pciutils-2.2.0-r1! │
│ Please submit a bug report (after searching to make sure it's not │
│ a known issue and verifying you didn't do something stupid) with │
    ├─the contents of /var/log/install.log and /tmp/installprofile.xml───┤
    │ and the version of t< Yes >aller you u< No >

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Make any particioning
2.Mark almost all packets to install
3.Configure eth0 internet connection with DHCP
4.Create 1 user
5.Click install button

Actual Results:
See destription

Expected Results:
Gentoo should install

I was trying with GUI and non-GUI installs - it's the same.
My hardware configuration:
HDD: 60 gb IDE Samsung
PROC: Amd Duron 1.6 GHz
RAM: 512 MB
Chipset: VIA KT600
Network card: w/chipset
Graphic card: Radeon 9100

install.log is empty.

This happened because you did a non-GRP install and used the snapshot on the LiveCD. The same thing would have happened if you installed by hand and used a snapshot that was 5 months out of date.
