Description Grzegorz Moroz 2007-01-28 13:18:29 UTC
Gajim 0.11-r3 notification popups disappeared. There is sound, but no popup in bottom-right corner of the screen on any of actions (message, contact connected, disconnected etc.). My suspect is latest dbus-python-0.80.1. I'm on ~x86.

Regards - morda

Reproducible: Always

Err... How about if you re-emerge w/ USE="libnotify"? :)

Still no luck mate, doesn't work. I have never had libnotify enabled and it worked. The same with trayicon flag - disabled, but icon sits in tray. I don't know what's the use of these flags..

Regards - morda.

Do other applications which use libnotify work correctly? (ie: is it a Gajim-only issue?)
Comment 4 Grzegorz Moroz 2007-02-05 20:57:07 UTC
I'm not sure which other apps use it or I might not have them installed. Other notifications that I can see on my system are from Skype, Banshee (song change) and Mail-notification. It wasn't that version 0.11-r3 of Gajim was broken straight away. It worked until an update of other packages. I noticed that like 2 days later, checked what was updated and one of them was dbus-python-0.80.1 It might be this one, or any other around that time.

Regards - morda
Comment 5 Peter Weller (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-02-06 13:45:06 UTC
I have confirmed that it is an issue related to the DBus upgrade. (I actually have the same problem myself, but never noticed it, whoopsie!)

This problem has been solved upstream, and I shall look into solving it later today.
Comment 6 Grzegorz Moroz 2007-02-08 14:01:37 UTC
Alright, version 0.11.0.7951 works as expected again. Thanks.
Btw what's the use of libnotify flag. I have it disabled (by default) and notifications work. The same with trayicon - disabled but icon is in tray.

Regards - morda
Comment 7 Peter Weller (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-02-08 16:23:07 UTC
Libnotify is a runtime dep - if you have libnotify installed on your system, it'll utilize it. The avahi and xhtml flags are the same.

If you have the gnome USE flag enabled, it automagically does all the trayicon and idle stuff automagically.
Comment 8 Radek Podgorny 2007-02-08 16:43:53 UTC
Then, there is no point in having these flags...
