I have Sleep States enabled in the kernel so I'm able to hibernate to ram (suspend) but when enabled the laptop fan wont turn back on after Suspending or Hibernating. When Sleep States is turned off in the kernel the fan turns back on after a hibernate but suspend will not work.

My laptop is a HP Compaq nx6110

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Setup suspend2 on a system
2. Enable Sleep States in ACPI in the kernel
3. Hibernate to ram
4. Resume
Actual Results:  
System comes up fine but the system fan does not turn back on, no matter how hot the system gets.

Expected Results:  
For the fan to turn back on.

this is most likely not a kernel problem. your laptop's mobo is in charge of the fan - it should be turned on in any case, regardless of hibernate and especially regardless of the kernel's sleep-state implementation.

contact compaq to see if there is a bios update.

In addition you are using completely unsupported kernel that's not even distributed by Gentoo.

This also happens in suspend2-sources. Thanks for the advice ill have to find a way to update the bios.
