When I try to play a movie hosted on an SMB share in mplayer, I get the following message - MPlayer was not compiled with SMB reading support I looked in the ebuild, and samba is not mentioned in the IUSE= field. Would it be possible to add samba support to mplayer, based on the samba USE flag? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Run mplayer smb://hostname/sharename/filename 2.Watch the movie not come up. Actual Results: I get the error message "MPlayer was not compiled with SMB reading support". Expected Results: Streamed the movie over the network. :-)
Err, how do you enable it ? There seem to be not ./configure flag ...
From http://mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mplayer-users/2002-November/024170.html - According to the changelog: * smb:// URL support (disabled by default, ./configure part not yet done!) I don't know how to manually enable it, though. -Corey gabor wrote: > [Automatic answer: RTFM (read DOCS, FAQ), also read DOCS/bugreports.html] > hi, > > is the smb:// support implemented or not? > > because when i try to open a samba-file, like: > > mplayer smb://georgi/media/my.avi, > > mplayer says: > mplayer was not compiled with smb reading support. > > but ./configure --help doesn't show anything about > enabling/disabling samba support... > > so how can i enable it? or was samba support rejected? > > thanks, > gabor > I guess this means this will just have to wait.
