Description James Athey 2003-02-26 03:20:03 UTC
When I try to play a movie hosted on an SMB share in mplayer, I get the
following message -
MPlayer was not compiled with SMB reading support
I looked in the ebuild, and samba is not mentioned in the IUSE= field. Would it
be possible to add samba support to mplayer, based on the samba USE flag?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Run mplayer smb://hostname/sharename/filename
2.Watch the movie not come up.

Actual Results:
I get the error message "MPlayer was not compiled with SMB reading support".

Expected Results:
Streamed the movie over the network. :-)

Err, how do you enable it ? There seem to be not ./configure flag ...

From http://mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mplayer-users/2002-November/024170.html -

According to the changelog:
  * smb:// URL support (disabled by default, ./configure part not yet done!)

I don't know how to manually enable it, though.
