Description Ramiro Simões Lopes 2007-01-23 22:35:48 UTC
I emerged Quodlibet and the internet radio station menu item and button didn't appear. There's one menu item: 'Add a location...' but then it doesn't open any radio station address and complains about unsuported format.

I used to listen to radio stations on quodlibet on Debian some time ago, and I'm not sure but I think that in my former Gentoo install quodlibet had options to listen to radio stations too.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" USE="mad trayicon aac" emerge quodlibet
2.open quodlibet
3.

Actual Results:
no internet radio station buttons/menu

Expected Results:
I would like to listen to internet radio on quodlibet

Do you have an url for a radio that says unsuported format so that I can try to reproduce it ?

Sure, I used to listen to, for example:

http://somafm.com/indiepop.pls
http://somafm.com/indiepop.asx

In the view menu I have a "internet radio" button and I can read the .pls but not the .asx
For the latter it's complaining about gstreamer that cannot handle the file format.

Can you please post the output of emerge -pv quodlibet ?

I think it's either that you did not activate the correct use flags or a missing use/dep in quodlibet.

USE="aac mad trayicon" ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -pv q
uodlibet

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] media-sound/quodlibet-0.24-r1 USE="aac alsa mad trayicon vorbis -dbus -esd -flac -gnome -hal -mmkeys -musepack -oss" 0 kB

In the view menu I don't have a 'internet radio' button...
By the way, you can see that the vorbis use flag is set, but in Comment #3 you can see that the ogg format is not supported...
Comment 8 Alexis Ballier gentoo-dev 2007-01-24 19:21:40 UTC
And what if you install quodlibet with gnome useflag ?
Internet radio needs gnome vfs

by the way, I suppose xiph means ogg support.

Alright I'll give it a try. Unfortunately I don't use gnome so enabling that useflag will require a lot of dependencies to be installed.

I think it would be better if it were specified somewhere though, how could one possibly guess that the gnome useflag enables internet radio?

And yes xiph means ogg, I didn't know that.
Comment 10 Ramiro Simões Lopes 2007-01-25 08:44:40 UTC
It worked!
It's the gnome useflag then.
Thank you.

I didn't do some voodoo incantations to know that, I just read the readme file that comes with quodlibet ;)
quodlibet is highly dependant on gnome but works more or less without it, perhaps it'd be wise to add some warnings about that, more than the ones already present in the ebuild.
