Description Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-23 17:29:04 UTC
doing a stable amd64 install and just hit this...

pty.c: In function 'OpenPTY':
pty.c:270: warning: assignment makes pointer from integer without a cast
x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -L../.. -o rlfe rlfe.o pty.o -lreadline -lhistory -lcurses
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4/../../../../x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: pty.o: relocation R_X86_64_32 against `a local symbol' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
pty.o: could not read symbols: Bad value

(I copied the warning in for you spanky... that's terrible code.. since you have all your QA checks for other packages.. you should fix that too!)

Comment 1 Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-23 17:45:20 UTC
hrm. It was totally distcc related. I hate distcc.. boss wanted to see distcc in action.
Comment 2 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2007-01-23 18:48:43 UTC
