I am using pcmcia-cs-3.2.1, linux-wlan-ng 0.1.16-pre6, wireless-tools 25, and ck-source 2.4.20-r2 with pcmcia enabled. My laptop is a HP ze1210. I have tried both the NetGear MA401, and Linksys WPC11 wireless nics and they both freeze the machine periodically. It requires a hard reset to get out of. The same behavior has been apparent on at least 3 different WAPs (one at home which is a linksys WAP11, and two at school maker unkown). When iwconfig is run, I get the following error: "Warning Driver for device wlan0 has been compiled with version 14 of Wireless Extension, while this program is using version 13. Some things may be broken..." I have read the ChangeLog for linux-wlan-ng and there is a new ebuild (linux-wlan-ng-0.1.16-pre9) which states the change for 22 Feb 2003: "Slightly modifed to check which version of pcmcia-cs it should compile against." All attempts to merge this ebuild have ended in mirrors responding that the files do not exist. The Linksys WPC11 card is known to run in Gentoo. It should be noted that the card is working, it just freezes the whole machine after 5-10 minutes of using the network. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Insert the card. 2.Browse the internet for a few minutes. Actual Results: Computer freezes requiring a hard reset. Expected Results: It should allow me to continue to use the network.
All the problems with files not being there should now be fixed. Moved to using a different means of checking the pcmcia-cs version. Please try testing the linux-wlan-ng-0.2.0.ebuild which is now unmasked and report success/failure.
