Description Arthur Koziel 2007-01-22 11:59:32 UTC
After the upgrade from beta5 to beta6, a error appears on every start:

"Unable To add"
"Could not add the buddy 1 for an unknown reason. The most common reason for this is that you have the maximum number of allowed buddies in your buddy list."

Deleting the account and adding it again didn't help, also deleting some users from the buddy list didn't help either. Deleting ~/.gaim is also causing the error after creating the new account.
This error did not appear in <=beta5

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.start gaim beta 6
2.
3.

Which protocol? All of them?
Comment 2 Arthur Koziel 2007-01-22 19:38:20 UTC
ICQ

net-im/gaim-2.0.0_beta6 - behaving very badly for me - crashing upon startup.
Comment 4 Olivier Crete (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-27 00:20:32 UTC
you may want to backup the ~/.gaim/contacts.xml file and re-adding all the accounts. The split between the AIM and ICQ stuff may be affecting you.

Can you post a stacktrace or what messages it gives you?

Comment 5 Olivier Crete (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-05-01 03:28:50 UTC
can you still reproduce the problem with net-im/pidgin. Please re-open this bug if you can.
Comment 6 Arthur Koziel 2007-05-01 10:48:39 UTC
Yes, the bug is still there.
I even deleted all my contacts one by one and removed .gaim and .purple. After adding my icq-account pidgin starts with an empty contact list and still remports the same error :-(

Here's the relevant part of the debug output:

I think that:
oscar: ssi: Action 0x0008 was unsuccessful with error 0x0001
might be the culprit.
Comment 7 Arthur Koziel 2007-05-04 13:26:27 UTC
Bug is gone with pidgin 2.0.0 final :)
