Comment 2 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-21 11:21:00 UTC
Has zero in common with Gentoo bugzilla product; kindly read the descriptions.
Comment 3 Christian Heim (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-21 11:35:01 UTC
I just fixed it in CVS, should be on the mirrors in about ~1h.
Comment 4 Karel Hala 2007-01-21 12:43:50 UTC
Merges fine, imho init has changed in 0.30.212 version. This is an output of the vservers restart. Vservers are running ok but it will be necessary to update the init.d script to handle the new version correctly...

server ~ # /etc/init.d/vservers restart
 * Caching service dependencies ...                                                                                                                     [ ok ]
/etc/init.d/vservers: line 16: source: filename argument required
source: usage: source filename [arguments]
 * Stopping all types of vservers ...                                                                                                                   [ !! ]
 * Checking for vservers still running ...
/etc/init.d/vservers: line 53: vs_running_name: command not found
/etc/init.d/vservers: line 16: source: filename argument required

 * Unhiding /proc entries ...                                                                                                                           [ ok ]
 * Starting vservers of type 'default' ... [ ok ]
Comment 5 Karel Hala 2007-01-21 13:23:08 UTC
I am reopening this bug, software seems running ok, just want to notice to my previous post - the issue with init.d script.

(I do not want to report a parallel bug to this software release)
Comment 6 Benedikt Böhm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-21 13:28:28 UTC
The init scripts have changed, please see http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/vps/vserver-howto.xml and the warning in the ebuild... the new ones are vprocunhide and vservers.default, you should remove the old one ..
Comment 7 Karel Hala 2007-01-21 14:12:26 UTC
Hmmm, there is comment about adding vprocunhide to init.d script but
- there is nothing about obsoleting vservers script
- there is nothing about adding vservers.default script.

So can mystify a bit.

A would recomend to add the link you mentioned above to that ebuild with a warning that documentation and configuration has changed and it is recommended to see it before just restarting the service.

Anyway runs smoothly, great job guys...

The ebuild comment:

 * You have to run the vprocunhide command after every reboot
 * in order to setup /proc permissions correctly for vserver
 * use. An init script has been installed by this package.
 * To use it you should add it to a runlevel:
 *
 *  rc-update add vprocunhide default
 *
 * You should definitly fix up the barrier of your vserver
 * base directory by using the following command in a root shell:
 *
 *  setattr --barrier /vservers
 *
Comment 8 Benedikt Böhm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-21 14:33:28 UTC
the warning only shows if you upgrade from <0.30.211, but the warning was not in 0.30.211, that's probably why you never saw it, sorry for the bad timing ..
Comment 9 Benedikt Böhm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-26 12:59:46 UTC
*** Bug 163879 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Comment 10 Karel Hala 2007-01-26 14:13:49 UTC
That was my case, so I wrote this bug immediately...

Anyway if you would need testing of feature releases, let me know Benedikt.
