Description Andy 2007-01-20 05:05:57 UTC
After emerging banshee on an AMD64 system (I am unsure if this occurs using other arches) and running it, it crashes immediately. This has occured even after a reinstall of Gentoo.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Add banshee to list of packages which allow testing versions to be used.
2.Emerge banshee.
3.Type 'banshee' at console.
Actual Results:
This console output results, and the application does not start.

it looks a problem related to mono see the line: No such file or directory
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: No such file or directory --->
Mono.Unix.UnixIOException: No such file or directory [ENOENT].

Try installing mono again. this isn't a banshee bug.

I have reinstalled mono multiple times. It still does the same thing. I use other mono applications with no issues that use GTK.

Bug reopened. The error message states:

Unhandled Exception: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to
an instance of an object
  at Banshee.Base.Branding.get_ApplicationIconName () [0x00000]
  at Banshee.Base.IconThemeUtils.SetWindowIcon (Gtk.Window window) [0x00000]
  at Banshee.Gui.Dialogs.ExceptionDialog..ctor (System.Exception e) [0x00000]
  at Banshee.Gui.CleanRoomStartup.Startup (Banshee.Gui.StartupInvocationHandler
startup, System.String[] args) [0x00000]
  at Banshee.BansheeEntry.Main (System.String[] args) [0x00000]

Which sounds like it cannot find the icon used for Banshee, which would indeed be an issue with the Gentoo version of Banshee. Reopened due to that and due to other applications working fine using GTK and Mono, re-installation of Mono, and re-installation of Gentoo. If nothing else, this is an issue with Gentoo's version of either Banshee or Mono, and to me it leans very heavily to Banshee.

I apologize, running hal worked perfectly. Thanks!

For anyone who has this problem, as root:

/etc/init.d/hald start
