My linguas var is LINGUAS="de". After compiling openoffice-2.1 the entire help (writer/calc/impress etc.) is in english language, while with openoffice-2.0.* it was translated. Are you asking us to translate it? I guess not. :)
(In reply to comment #1) > Are you asking us to translate it? I guess not. :) of course not. Sorry... didn't know that upstream released 2.1 without translated help.
Well, we only download the localization pack and install it ;) Any localization errors etc. need to be solved w/ upstream translators, we won't fix them.
(In reply to comment #3) > Well, we only download the localization pack and install it ;) Any localization > errors etc. need to be solved w/ upstream translators, we won't fix them. I was not shure with the l10n pack... the ebuild Changelog says: *openoffice-2.1.0 (12 Jan 2007) ... 12 Jan 2007; Andreas Proschofsky <suka@gentoo.org> Added to that en_US and de users no longer have to download the l10n tarball, which spares another 72 MByte. ... so I don't have OOo_2.1.0_src_l10n.tar.bz2 in my distfiles. That's why I thought it could be a problem with the build process.
Hmmmm... Not much keen on rebuilding this, lets have someone else to check :P
(In reply to comment #4) > so I don't have OOo_2.1.0_src_l10n.tar.bz2 in my distfiles. That's why I > thought it could be a problem with the build process. I've change the ebuild so that LINGUAS="de" has OOo_2.1.0_src_l10n.tar.bz2 as SRC_URI. Now (after 10h compiling) the help is also translated. It seems to me you don't need the l10n for translated GUI (menues, etc.) but you need it for translated help.
Created attachment 107987 [details, diff] patch to include l10n as SRC_URI for LINGUAS="de"
I've fixed this now, thanks for reporting and investigating on this, Sascha!
