At lbreakout2 site "News" page, we can see the latest update on levelsets was on 2006-11-26 12:32. The latest version in portage tree is 2004-03-19. Bug 44447 is a related bug. I would also like to add all extra themes from that page, but I'm not sure if I should ask at this bug or fill another one. Since there is a lbreakout2-levelsets-20040319.tar.gz file, a lbreakout2-themes-YYYYMMDD.tar.gz could be made too. I've contacted upstream asking him to put versioned levelpack file, and to make a theme pack file.
If I understood correctly, to update the levelset we just need to download http://lgames.sourceforge.net/LBreakout2/levels/levelsets.tar.gz and save at gentoo distfiles mirror as lbreakout2-levelsets-20061126.tar.gz (should we use the date of last announced version o date of download?) and edit two lines from ebuild, updating the old filename to the new one. Of course, for themes more work is needed. I will wait if upstream will make a theme pack (tarball) before starting to edit the ebuild.
The lbreakout2 author (Michael Speck) kindly answered my request for making a theme pack and put a version on both levelset and theme pack filenames. See his answer:
I've created a package "add-ons" at SF which provides the currently very much up-to-date tarballs. The LGames homepage only links to the SF section not the most current file (easier to maintain). This means whoever is responsible for updating the ebuild should simply monitor the "add-ons" package and will get notified on new packages. Hope this helps!
See here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=9301&package_id=218844 I think this will make the lbreakout2 job easier. So... Someone could start updating the ebuild. Or I could do that myself, if I have some time.
Created attachment 107754 [details] Proposed new ebuild This is my proposed new ebuild. I've just finished it. It works for me. Features: - Download levelsets and themes from new sourceforge URL. - Always download and install levelsets. - Dowload and install (extra) themes only if "themes" useflag is set. I guess the ebuild is easy to read and also have a few comments.
Created attachment 107757 [details] Changes between old lbreakout2-2.5.2.ebuild and new proposed lbreakout2-2.5.2-r1.ebuild This is just a diff between the old and the new ebuild. Just to help anyone reading this bug spot the changes.
don't apply anymore. Care to re-roll?
(In reply to comment #5) > don't apply anymore. Care to re-roll? What? Patch from comment #4 does not apply? You can just get the proposed "patched" version at comment #3.
