take a look at http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors.xml and add all new mirrors to the mirrorselect MIRROR_LIST Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. read => /usr/portage/app-admin/mirrorselect/files/mirrorselect 2. 3. Actual Results: i.e. my mirror server is missing http://www.fhh.opensource-mirror.de/gentoo.org/ ftp://ftp.fhh.opensource-mirror.de/pub/gentoo.org/ Expected Results: i.e. offering 5 server located here in germany (not 1) maybe a central database with a up2date-mirrorlist makes sense. everytime mirrorselect is called, it gets a fresh list from that server
Gerk and I talked about this issue back when he was writing the mirrorselect utility. Gerk -- maybe we can revisit this now?
re-assigning to me
Kurt: timing is really bad for me to work on this stuff, maybe after next rc is out I can look at things... Ideally what would be great is a static list of mirrors I can grab from the website. I'd prefer to keep thing plain text if possible, I dont wanna add more deps to mirror select if we can avoid it.
kicking this back to bug-wranglers. Not sure who is maintaining mirrorselect any more, but this needs to go to them.
whoops -- accidentally closed this. re-opening, assigning to bug-wranglers. /me gets too click-happy with the mouse...
Given that bug-wranglers has asked for brief explanatory notes from devs when they kick bugs back to them, one would assume devs would receive the same courtesy. I bounced this back to bug-wranglers for a reason (as is clearly stated in the bug notes) and it was assigned back to us without any explanation. To reiterate, whomever is now supporting mirrorselect needs to own this bug. The mirror-admin team does not own or support mirrorselect, so this is not our bug. Re-assigning to bug-wranglers (again)
this has already been resolved. it parses the file: http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors.xml any changes to be made to this file, in relation to how the links are set out (tags wise) please consult me so i can change mirrorselect appropriately. if its possible to store this list completely text-only generated on the fly, that would be better but isn't neccessary. Closing this bug :)
