One of the mirrors in the rsync.se.gentoo.org rotation won't sync with the x86 stable version of rsync Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set rsync://ftp.du.se/gentoo-portage as rsync mirror 2. emerge --sync Alternative: 1. cd /usr/portage && rsync rsync://ftp.du.se/gentoo-portage Actual Results: >>> Starting rsync with rsync://130.243.32.22/gentoo-portage... >>> Checking server timestamp ... ============================================================== This is ftp.du.se (130.243.32.22), located in Borlange, Sweden. Server is a AMD64 3500+ with 2GB RAM and 2.8TB disk on a 2.5Gbit internet connection. 25 concurrent rsync connections are allowed. ============================================================== @ERROR: chroot failed rsync error: error starting client-server protocol (code 5) at main.c(1383) [receiver=2.6.9] >>> Retrying... Exiting on signal 2 [after Ctrl-C, my note] Expected Results: Syncing properly I'äm using rsync 2.6.9-r1, but I believe the problem existed before I upgraded yesterday too, so probably 2.6.9 too.

Torbjörn, what's happened with your mirror, it seems to be MIA. Please let gentoo know what's happening.
May I suggest temporarily removing this mirror from the rotation (rsync.se.gentoo.org, possibly rsync.eu.gentoo org as well, if it's in there) until this issue is resolved? At least it'll keep users from reporting more bugs (and me from getting annoyed over failed syncs :P)
This has nothing to do with rsync versions, their chroot is busted, please remove from dns rotations.
Changing name
Please remove this b0rked mirror...
Apologies for the delayed response. Since there is no response from the admin, I've removed this mirror off the rotation and ACL with immediate effect. Tor, Thanks for supporting Gentoo with a mirror, in case you'd like to be re-listed as an official mirror, please re-open this bug.
