Description a_tevelev 2007-01-16 00:59:42 UTC
When ssmtp attempts to execute, it is crashed:

denied resource overstep by requesting 4096 for RLIMIT_CORE against limit 0 for /usr/sbin/ssmtp[sendmail:175700] uid/euid:0/0 gid/egid:0/0, parent /usr/sbin/fcron[fcron:364687] uid/euid:0/0 gid/egid:0/0

The version is: mail-mta/ssmtp-2.61-r2
Comment 3 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-16 07:57:53 UTC
Reopen with exact ebuild version and a backtrace: http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml
Comment 4 a_tevelev 2007-01-16 15:51:25 UTC
The exact ebuild version did not change and is still the same as reported originally: mail-mta/ssmtp-2.61-r2.

Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to go through all the motions outlined in http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml on the motion where this bug was observered, and I don't have another Gentoo machine at my disposal.

So if the goal is to keep the bug count down, please go ahead and close this bug. It will certainly help that cause - or at least until someone else opens it.

If on the other hand, the goal is to have software with no bugs, all that is needed to do to reproduce this bug, is to install on any of 2.6.19 hardened kernels and try to send an e-mail.

Thanks

Well, reopen when you have time to provide the required info. Thanks.

Well, then re-read the howto again and try to produce something more useful; backtraces without any debugging symbols really won't help.

please test with ssmtp-2.62 and reopen this bug if the problem still exists.
