maybe the patch is corrupted on an rsync mirror, can you check the patch is like it should be (see webcvs on gentoo.org). http://cvs.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/gentoo-x86/media-libs/gst-plugins/files/gst-plugins-0.6-ogg_detection_fix.patch?rev=1.1&content-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup
thanks for the link. You're right, my copy of the patch was just a bunch of garbage. So I cut 'n' pasted the one from CVS and it's now installed. BTW, this happened before when I was looking at the changelog for app-arch/file-roller. There wasn't any text, just a bunch of garbage in the file.
that sort of things should be reported to our rsync maintainers i think. bug-wranglers, can you get this to the right place ?
without knowing what rsync mirror you last sync'ed against, it's difficult/impossible to troubleshoot this bug. If you notice the behavior again, please see if you can note what rsync server you've been using.
Obsolete bug, closing.
