Description Matthias Langer 2007-01-09 19:04:27 UTC
when trying to emerge sys-fs/xfsdump-2.2.42 on a system without gettext i get:

[...]
checking for msgfmt... no

FATAL ERROR: msgfmt does not seem to be installed.
xfsdump cannot be built without a working gettext installation.

!!! Please attach the following file when filing a report to bugs.gentoo.org:
!!! /var/tmp/portage/xfsdump-2.2.42/work/xfsdump-2.2.42/config.log

!!! ERROR: sys-fs/xfsdump-2.2.42 failed.
[...]

emerging sys-devel/gettext manually solved this problem for me.

xfsdump-2.2.42.ebuild.patch

This patch add gettext as dependency when USE=nls. It also fixes it to build on uclibc which is currently broken.
Comment 2 Axel Dyks 2007-05-01 03:39:52 UTC
Hi,

any progress on this bug?
// ??? assigned to "base-system" ???

I've just bumped into the same problem (on a USE="-nls" system)
and I was about to file exactly the same bug report and almost
the same fix.
// The proposed patch/ebuild is missing "nls? ( sys-devel/gettext )"
// in DEPEND/RDEPEND, i. e. doing the same as in "xfsprogs"
// works for me.

Could someone please commit a/the fix into "-r1" in CVS?

Cheers,
Axel
