the ut2004-ded init.d/ut2004-ded script starts with two editable options. At the very least these should be moved to conf.d/ut2004-ded. I tried this and seemed to work. I believe there's just a minor catch, the binary path seems to be an option as well (why?) and I believe this its being filled at emerge time. Meaning that the ebuild would need to now fill it in conf.d instead of init.d.
