Hi. This is not a bug, but only a suggestion. I see you are continuously changing USE flag, day by day, requiring us to recompile the software continuously. It really takes a lot of time and in the majority of cases it's really useless. Could you refrain changing those flag, and plan those change in a longer time? Today I had to recompile kdelibs because you removed a flag, not used by me in that case, yesterday I had to recompile all XFCE related packages for the same reason, two days ago had same some problem with other packages .... I can't spend 2 hours a day for those useless operation. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge --sync all days and you'll get crazy in less then a week.
Don't really see what are you requesting here.
I am requesting you to use more common sense, to be smarter and pay attention whenever you plan an action which implies any kind of issue for the users. In this case I am saying that I don't want to spend the whole life compiling and compiling, again and again. There is no need to add/move/remove flags. Just add them when an upgrade of is planned for that packages. It doesn't make any sense that I must recompile kdelibs, because you have added the new flag "kdehiddenvisibility", even if I am not using such flag.... and perhaps after 2 days I must recompile it once again because you just deleted this flag. Just do it, when it's very important, but I don't think "kdehiddenvisibility" is very important. What the hell is this flag I have no idea... Please bear in mind, that installation in Gentoo really take lot of (waste of) time. And bear also in mind that "kdehiddenvisibility" is just an example, but not the only one I can mention..... Now, if you have read and you understood what I am saying, you can close the ticket :) If you have any question, ask and I'll try being clear as much as possible. Thanks.
Sorry, but this is not a bug. Your feedback is welcome on gentoo-dev mailing list or another proper place. That said, we won't freeze the tree because you dislike use flag changes. Thanks, closing.
Well, I didn't say that you must freeze the tree, and I don't dislike useful changes. I dislike useless changes in the use flag. Why you're not programming flag changes, together with package upgrade, in order to avoid these stupid/useless upgrades/recompilations? Is it so important to get a flag like "kdehiddenvisibility" before the next upgrade comes? ... especially when a package like kdelibs is involved, because it requires a huge amount of time to compile. That said, I'll go in the right place to discuss those kind of issues :) Take care :)
