Description William L. Thomson Jr. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-06 20:30:27 UTC
Requesting stabilization of this package. It's a bit premature for the 30 days, but it's preventing me from removing jdbc3-firebirdsql which I have already moved to jdbc-jaybird. Not to mention it was a gen 1 package before and is now gen 2 java.

Also request ppc/ppc64 keywords due to lack of hardware to test on.

Thank you

dev-db/jxtray-0.5-r1 USE="-doc -firebird -mssql -mysql -postgres"

on x86:
1: emerge fails because !!! ERROR: Package jdom-1.0_beta9 was not found!

but emerge -pv jdom gives this:
[ebuild   R   ] dev-java/jdom-1.0  USE="-doc -jikes -source" 0 kB

ebuild wanted me to attach this:

GENTOO_VM=sun-jdk-1.5  CLASSPATH="" JAVA_HOME="/opt/sun-jdk-1.5.0.09"
JAVACFLAGS="-source 1.4 -target 1.4" COMPILER="javac"

any ideas?

I corrected the ebuild with the least impact I could do on it so I suppose it is ok to continue with the stabilization. Here's the diff:

The problem is there are jdom-1.0_beta9 and jdom-1.0 slots, so according to the dependency jxtray used jdom-1.0 ebuild but looked for the jdom jar in jdom-1.0_beta9 slot. The problem didn't appear at my laptop as I have both jdom-1.0_beta9 and jdom-1.0 installed.

Markus Meier, can you please sync your tree and see if you have the same problem. I was able to emerge it with postgres use flag. Not sure if there were other inconsistencies at the time, but should be good to go.

Want to stabilize this, so I can remove an older version that is gen 1, and depends on a package I am trying to remove from tree entirely :)

I synced some hours ago (Timestamp of tree: Thu, 25 Jan 2007 19:00:01 +0000) and I still have the same problem. According to the ChangeLog, the last commit was the ~ppc64. sources.g.o doesn't have anything newer...
Comment 7 William L. Thomson Jr. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-25 23:17:31 UTC
ok sorry, it was the javadocs target, that should have been javadoc. I corrected that, and committed the fix. Should be able to sink in a few hours.
Comment 8 Christian Faulhammer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-26 07:58:35 UTC
Same errors still.

-r1 still inherits jdbc3-postgresql and you try to import the wrong jar file

 use postgres && cp="${cp}:$(java-pkg_getjars jdbc3-postgresql)"

Comment 9 Vlastimil Babka (Caster) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-26 09:40:52 UTC
The only stable jdbc3-postresql is 7.3 which is SLOT=1 (for some weird reason), but getjars call is for slot 0. To change getjars call to slot 1, you would need a revbump (changes package.env) and restrict DEPEND on =7.3*. To continue using slot 0, restrict depend to >=7.4 but then you would need to get on of them stable.

IMHO it's not worth, 0.5-r2 is already using jdbc-postresql instead of jdbc3-postresql so you would kill two birds with one stone by stabling that instead. But for that you would need to stable some jdbc-postresql version first. It's currently 20 days old (10 days premature).

I'll leave the decision to wltjr and fordfrog.
Comment 10 William L. Thomson Jr. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-26 16:24:21 UTC
Both fordfrog and I were migrating older packages to gen 2, doing package moves, and trying to remove older versions of packages from the tree. Unless others object we should look into stabilizing the new jdbc-postgresql, and jxtray-0.5-r2. So as stated we can kill the most birds with the least amount of stones.

Not sure if package was bumped after stabilization or etc. But 0.5-r2 is stable on all but amd64. Please stabilize so we can removed older versions. Thank you.
