bash 3.1_p17
readline 5.1_p4
xterm 222
xorg-x11 7.1

I can not reproduce this bug with "konsole",
so I suppose this is xterm bug.
Comment 3 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-06 15:58:02 UTC
Works just fine for me w/ 223, latest bash and readline...

I tryed
xterm 223
bash 3.2_p9-r1
readline 5.2_p1

bug still here,

may be the problem in utf-8 locale?
Comment 5 Evgeniy Dushistov 2007-01-06 17:00:52 UTC
I can also reproduce bug with
XTerm(223)
and
zsh 4.3.2 (i686-pc-linux-gnu)

The second paste not needed,
if unselect selected text,
then next paste will insert "#"es.

Thomas, have you seen any other similar reports to this?

Comment 9 Dmitry 'MAD' Artamonow 2007-06-28 11:25:57 UTC
I'm seeing similar behaviour after upgrading to xterm-225. But it much worse -copy-pasting non-latin symbols with middle mouse button _always_ inserts ##### symbols.

It doesn't seems to be bash-related bug - it can be reproduced with vim and even cat ('xterm cat' for example). And, BTW, I don't use utf-locale - i have LANG=ru_RU.KOI8-R

I don't remember exactly, which latest working for me version was, but after examining /usr/portage/distfiles seems that it was xterm-222. I'll try to build it to check if there's no such bug.

And here's my system info:

Comment 10 Dmitry 'MAD' Artamonow 2007-06-28 15:08:55 UTC
Well, xterm-222 is really works for me (i build it by copying xterm-225.ebuild). I also tried newer xterm-226 and -227 (also, no changes to ebuild, simple copy), but with them bug is still here :(

BTW, i noticed at the last moment - pasting in xterm-226 seems to really work fine with UTF-8 encoding, but not with KOI8-R. Any suggestions?

I will try to build other versions tomorrow, to see when KOI8 pasting was broken.
Comment 11 Thomas Dickey 2007-06-28 19:11:05 UTC
The fix made in #225 assumes you're using the -k8 option
(allowC1Printable resource), e.g., as set in the koi8rxterm script.
