mplayer behaves incorrectly with USB cameras that are used through the uvcvideo kernel module. Recently a patch has been developed to fix this:

The patch is now in mplayer svn. I have adapted the patch file for the 1.0_pre8 ebuild. The built-in iSight camera now works perfectly on my MacBook Pro. It would be nice to have the patch included in the ebuild of pre 1.0!

It's not a new package, just an additional patch. Please assign to media-video!

Yes, as mentioned in the Description the patch is in SVN and will be featured in the next release. This is "just" a backport to get the feature working NOW.

pre8 is masked for security reasons
